According to rumors, Liverpool is close to reaching a deal with star striker Mo Salah for his contract extension at Anfield after a protracted stalemate.

The Reds have been unable to strike an agreement with the Egyptian, who is rumored to have rejected the club’s £400,000-a-week offer in December.

Salah, generally regarded as one of the top players in the world, has entered into a contract with the club that will keep him at the squad until the end of next season. However, it was claimed last month that talks with Liverpool had broken down, raising doubts about his future at Anfield.

With another magnificent season full of assists and goals, the 29-year-old has put himself in contention for the FIFA Ballon d’Or 2022. And he wants to be paid the market rate during his peak years.

At the age of 36, CR7 earns £500,000 a week at Man United. Kevin De Bruyne, meanwhile, received a new contract for £400,000 per week with Manchester City last year. Salah’s agent, Ramy Abbas Issa, utilized those figures as a starting point in his talks with Liverpool.

Salah has been shown to be aiming for a weekly wage of £500,000, which would place him on par with Man United’s Cristiano Ronaldo. He has since altered his attitude and is eager to collaborate with the team’s management.

Mohamed Salah is reportedly on the brink of agreeing to a new contract at Anfield, which would see him conclude his career there, according to the Mirror.

Well after the recent setback in discussions with Salah, Liverpool executives are fearful that he might wind up playing out his contract until the summer of 2023 prior to becoming a free agent.

PSG, Real Madrid and Barcelona could have taken advantage of the uncertainty by making a low-ball offer to test Liverpool’s resolve. But Salah is now part of a package that includes a new three-year agreement with a one-year extension option,it states, implying that he will complete his career at Liverpool.

The report continues, Salah’s choice was also influenced by the love and support he has received from the Merseyside community, with Liverpool comforting him when Egypt failed to qualify for the World Cup in Qatar.

Mohamed Salah, Egypt’s captain, slammed his penalty attempt over the crossbar while facing a hail of lasers as the Pharaohs were defeated in another shootout by Senegal.

In order to give their country the upper hand, Senegal supporters used dirty tactics during Tuesday’s crucial World Cup play-off match against Egypt by launching a barrage of laser blasts at rival players.

Mohamed Salah was only one of the Egyptian celebrities who had been harassed as a slew of green lasers were aimed at him from different angles across the setup. Senegal fans aimed their lasers at goalkeeper Mohammed El Shenawy whenever he faced a free-kick or a penalty in the vital shootout.

Throughout the match, El Shenawy received a lot of boos from the crowd, including water bottles and other projectiles, many of which impacted him.

Furthermore, with Liverpool still vying for the quadruple this season, Salah’s devotion to the club would be a welcome help in Klopp’s pursuit for the club’s best season yet.

Mohamed is having one of his most productive seasons with the Merseyside club. He holds 20 Premier League goals to his credit, making him the league’s top scorer, and 28 goals overall.

It comes after Klopp urged Salah to keep up his excellent form, despite the uncertainties off the field, and insisted he was not going to be ‘distracted’ in any way.

‘I think it’s how things should be now. The important parties are in touch, and the rest will be decided later. Everyone has agreed to participate. There may be some players who don’t get enough playing time or aren’t in the team enough and they could have potential to destabilize the situation. They don’t. They have no intention of doing so.’ Last month, he said that.

‘The team has made a definite commitment for this season and the others – future, now, and in the near future – will be discussed after that.”

‘Mo isn’t one of those guys who gets distracted easily. If I don’t begin with him, his attitude towards me will deteriorate! It’s feasible, but not against the team or in any other circumstance.’

The German manager previously indicated that Liverpool ‘could not do more’ to reach an agreement with Salah on a new contract.

‘Mo anticipates this club being ambitious,’ he remarked earlier this month. ‘It isn’t much else we can do. Mo is the one who makes the decision. From my perspective, everything is fine. There was no more action taken, no signatures or rejections. There’s no need to hurry; all we have to do now is wait.’

Ramy Abbas Issa, Salah’s representative, suggested that his client and the club were at odds by tweeting a series of laughing emoticons in response to Klopp’s statements.

Salah told Sky in a recent interview: ‘If you ask me whether I wanted to stay, I’d say I was pleased to play for Liverpool till my football career is over. But I can not say anything since I don’t have any influence over the situation.  It is contingent on the desires of the club.’

‘I’m not sure I’ll ever play against Liverpool,’ he continued. I’d feel depressed if it happened. It’ll be tough, to say the least, but we’ll see how things go.’

Jurgen Klopp feels his striker can follow in Cristiano Ronaldo’s footsteps and score goals until he is in his mid-thirties. ‘Mo is a consummate professional who still has a lot to offer,’ added the Reds’ manager. ‘He’s always on the lookout for fresh methods to better himself.

Salah has become a Liverpool icon after helping the team win the Champions League and Premier League since his arrival from Roma in June 2017.

With his contribution to Liverpool’s crucial win over Norwich City, Mohamed Salah has reached yet another professional milestone. In retrospect, Mohamed Salah’s goal makes him the tenth player in Liverpool history to achieve 150 goals in all leagues, and the second-fastest behind Roger Hunt (in 233 matches) to do so.
